How to use USB REDIRECTOR at home or at the office |

Here you can see the typical situation that is taken place in any modern office. But there is one essential drawback on this scheme (and on other similar schemes). USB devices, that you use on your workplace, can be used ONLY here! USB devices, connected to your computer, are accessible only for you! But now you can use USB Redirector and let other computers to access your USB devices very easy! Moreover there is no need to plug these devices OFF your PC. So, all you need to do is to install USB Redirector on each computer. From now you can share your USB devices at any moment. |

By the example of USB scanner plugged in work Station A, you will see how simply you can share this device and use it on remote computers. STEP 1. Install USB Redirector. You have to install USB Redirector on those computers in your local network where you are going to share and connect remote USB devices. If you want to connect to USB devices ONLY, you can install free USB Redirector Lite. But please note: for sharing USB devices you must install at least one copy of USB Redirector program. STEP 2. USB devices sharing. So the next step is to share USB scanner plugged in work Station A. Run USB Redirector on work Station A. After that you will see the following program window: ![]() As you can see, there are two USB devices on the work Station A: USB Human Interface Device - USB mouse and USB scanner - Mustek 1200 UB Plus. To share this scanner you need to select it in the window "USB Devices available for Sharing" and select menu Sharing->Share USB Device. After USB device becomes shared, the icon near the scanner will be changed: ![]() So, now scanner is shared and can be connected by the users of the remote computers. STEP 3. Connection of shared USB device by working stations. Now, when USB scanner is shared, the users of work Station B and work Station C can connect to this device. For that let's run USB Redirector on work Station B. Then we need to add USB Server (work Station A): select menu Connect->Add USB Server. Last step is to enter IP address or hostname of remote computer (work Station A). And that is all! After all these actions you will see the following window: ![]() So, now only one USB device (Flash Disk) is physically plugged in work Station B. Also USB Server with IP address 192.168.1.2 (work Station A) is added, where USB scanner is available for connection. To connect this scanner you just need select in main menu Connect->Connect USB Device. After USB devices becomes connected you will see the appropriate information on main program window: ![]() |
